Rain Networks Announces It Will Resell Google Apps

October 10, 2011 – Today, Rain Networks announced that it has become an authorized reseller of the Google Apps™ suite of communication and collaboration tools.

Features unique to Google Apps Premier Edition include:

25 GBs of email storage per user – Offers more storage over the average corporate mailbox, eliminating the need to frequently delete email.

APIs for business integration – APIs for data migration, user provisioning, single sign-on, and mail gateways enable businesses to further customize the service for unique environments.

99.9 % uptime – Service level agreements for high availability of Gmail, with Google monitoring and crediting customers if service levels are not met.

24×7 support for critical issues – Includes extended business hours telephone support for administrators.

$50 per user account per year – Simple and affordable annual fee makes it practical to offer these applications to everyone in the organization.

“The Google Apps Reseller program will help us enhance the value of Google Apps for our clients” said Laureen Oakenfold from Rain Networks. “Google Apps for Business gives our clients email and file access in the cloud in a simple, cost effective manner. ”

Google Apps brings simple, powerful communication and collaboration tools to organizations of any size – all hosted by Google to streamline setup, minimize maintenance, and reduce IT costs. With Gmail (including Google email security, powered by Postini), Google Calendar, and integrated IM, users can stay connected and work together with ease. And, using Google Docs and Google Sites, which include word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and website creation tools, they can share files and collaborate in real-time, keeping versions organized and available wherever and whenever users work.

Rain Networks is a Bothell, Washington-based technology services provider that specializes in managed services for both small and large size companies. Since 2003, Rain Networks has been one of the leading providers in the Puget Sound area for sales, support, and maintenance for businesses that require maximum uptime, security, and performance for their network systems.

Recently Google announced their plans to release their own operating system, Google Chrome OS. Many have speculated what impact this will have on Microsoft’s Windows OS, especially considering Google’s plans to release the operating system for free. That’s right. Free.

Currently, Microsoft Windows is sold on 90% of consumer PCs, which leads some to believe that Google will have little influence at all. Since Windows represents nearly $11 billion of the annual operating income for Microsoft, which is about half its total, Microsoft has a lot to lose while Google has very little.

Google Chrome OS is expected to ship sometime in 2010 and is rumored to be released just for net books initially.
